A 3-second countdown gives you time to prepare. Clef, key, and note range stay fixed until time is up. You can switch keyboards during the run. Both clefs mixes treble and bass between notes. Random keys changes the signature with each note.

Read the note on the staff and play it. Enable Treble, Bass, or both to mix clefs between notes. At least one clef stays enabled. A correct answer moves to the next card. If you miss, try again. Click the staff note to hear it.
Free play has no time limit. In Timed, choose a clef, key, ledger range, and duration, then prepare during the three-second countdown. You can switch keyboards while playing. Completed runs save to a local leaderboard for those settings; ending early does not save a score.
Piano Keys: click or tap the piano. MIDI: connect your keyboard, then choose “Connect MIDI keyboard.”
Typing Keys: the home row A S D F G H J K L ; ' plays natural notes. Each sharp is on the upper-row key just to the right: W E T Y U O P ]. For example, A plays C and W plays C♯. Q, R, I, [ and \ are unused. Key positions follow a QWERTY keyboard; the display shows the mapping. Use Z / X to shift an octave.
Notes: click a natural, flat, or sharp note name. Octaves are ignored in this mode; equivalent pitches (such as C♯ and D♭) are accepted.
The typing range automatically follows the staff. Piano Keys and Typing Keys each remember their own “Match exact octave” setting. “Match exact MIDI octave” below the staff applies only to your MIDI keyboard. Turn off the corresponding setting to accept the note in any octave.
Key signatures apply to every octave. Random selects a different major key for each new flashcard. Reveal and skip count as missed cards. Revealed answers don’t add to your streak or response speed.
